GENERAL

The School, which was opened in 1960, is situated on the edge of Tonagh Estate and draws its pupils from both Housing Executive Homes and Private developments.

The 2021-22 enrollment is approximately 236 children with a teaching staff of Principal plus 7 full-time teachers, a part-time Nursery class teacher and two part-time Additional Support teachers.  This year we also have employed an Engage teacher and we are fortunate to have 14 classroom assistants who support the class teachers.

In addition, the school has 10 Classroom Assistants, a Secretary, a Caretaker and 3 Part-time Cleaners, 3 Kitchen Staff, 6 Supervisory Assistants and 1 Road Patrol Man.

The grounds surrounding the school are extensive and provide excellent play and sports’ areas.  We have developed new playground games and linked all these new ideas as part of our Positive Behaviour Policy.  Additional playground games/equipment are purchased periodically to improve fundamental movement skills.

The school has a well developed self-evaluative ethos and staff are continuously monitoring the curriculum on offer.  We are also heavily involved in Health Promotion and Personal and Social Education.  Safety and care of our children is inherent in all planning within the school complex.

All classrooms are now equipped with Interactive Whiteboards to enhance the children’s learning.
